MELLOTT - Harold E. Bantz, 56, a farmer near Mellott, died Friday of a heart attack. He was a member of the New Antioch Christian Church, a ham radio operator and member of the Prairie Dog CB. Mr. Bantz was a Democratic precinct committeeman and a graduate of Mellott High School. He was born Nov. 11, 1917 to Taylor and Bertha Short Bantz. He was married to June Younger on May 8, 1946 at Covington. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Sue) Keller of North Charleston, S.C., and Ella Beth Bantz, at home; a foster daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Moffitt of Waynetown, and a brother, Taylor Bantz Jr. of Covington. He was preceded in death by a son, Sid, in 1970. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Crumley Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro with the Rev. Clyde Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.

Mellott – Harold E. Bantz, 56 of near Mellott, died unexpectedly at 8 p.m. Friday at Veedersburg, apparently of a heart attack.  Mr. Bantz, a farmer, was born near here and was a graduate of Mellott HS. He served as Democrat precinct committeeman of South Richland Township. In 1946, he was married at Covington to June Younger who survives. He was a member of the Mellott Antioch Christian Church and Prairie Dogs Citizens Band Radio Club. Surviving with the wife are two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Sue) Keller of North Charleston SC and Ella Beth at home; a foster daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Moffitt of Waynetown and one brother, Taylor Bantz Jr. of Covington. – kbz
